Hey I'm Inky~! I’ve been reading and
writing for as long as I can remember. My first vivid memories of my
book-philia began when I was a pre-teen. The library was my favorite place and
every time I’d go and ransack the Juvenile section, coming home with piles of
books. Around that time, I gained a fascination for creating family trees and
stories based off the imagination games I played with my friends (which usually
involved horses ). Since then my love of reading and writing has continued to grow. I’ve matured in reading, enjoying the YA genre with all my heart, and beginning to gain more of a love for classic literature both old and new. This love has also encouraged me in my writing to the point of finishing and improving my novels and story skills.
Besides this obsession with the written word, I have a strong passion for music. As a 21st century teenager, I love current pop music, but I’ve also gained a somewhat nerdy love for Classical style ballads, Oldies and musicals. Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Celine Dion, Sara Brightman are some of my favorites just to name a few. Les Miserables, Wicked, and Aida are musicals that will always be a favorite of mine. I love to sing and am currently in three choirs. I play the piano and have for about 7-8 years, and am now teaching beginning piano to my 5 students. I also have a passion for theater and have participated in multiple musical productions.
I love the color lime
green, eating chocolate, and playing card games (namely Snurts and Phase 10). I
competed for three years in the Frist Lego League NXT competitions when I was
in Jr High. I love to make people laugh, and to laugh myself. I’m a bid advocate for grilled cheese sandwiches,
or anything with cheese really. Ever since I was little I wanted to drive, and
now I finally get too. I was so meant to drive.
I’m a Junior in High School, and I’ve been homeschooled since
first grade. Despite some popular beliefs I am not a shut in. I am a very much an extrovert who goes crazy
without non-family social interaction for a few days. I’m very involved in
church(I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), groups
and with my friends. I’m the oldest of 8 children, all sisters, except for my
one younger brother, with a 14 year age gap between me and my youngest sister.
I live in the grand state of California, where I’ve lived practically all my
life.
Being a book blogger has been one of the best experiences I’ve
had. Through interactions with fellow writers, authors and publishers, has led
me to one day pursue a career as a YA Editor in publishing. I would love to be
a Disney Princess at Disneyland. (namely Rapunzel. *cough* Flynn*) I aspire to
do the shuffle on the moon, and I aspire to inspire before I expire.
How Book Haven Came To Be
I first started blogging back in December of 2009. My very
first blog (The Life Of A Bookworm) was a personal life blog read only by
friends and family. I started it as a fun way to talk about the things I was
doing in my life. Books were a pretty big part of it at the time. I had a lot
of fun with that blog, even though my posts weren’t the best quality and my first vlogs were, to say the least..horrendous.
Fast forward two years to May of 2011 when after a few weeks of toying with the idea,
Book Haven Extraordinaire was born. I
loved books, and read all the time, so why not make a blog solely devoted to
them? The blog didn’t grow much that year, just a few Goodreads reviews copied
to blogger format, and whatnot. I was mainly involved in the Goodreads
community forums and so forth at the time. I knew practically NOTHING about the
world of book blogging.
My blog really started to improve when in January of 2012 I
became more aware of the insane amount of book blogs around me. I started
searching and looking up to some incredible blogs, and messing around with how
I wanted mine to be. I went through so many designs and changes as my reviews
got bigger and better, and my posts changed in nature and format. It was like
the puberty stage of my blog.
By the end of 2012 I had a good grasp on blogging and I was
so much more involved in the community. I actually had blogging friends that I
talked with. I established myself and was starting to feel like more than a
little itty bitty blog, which led into my confident roll into 2013, where I am
now. I’ve grown in my blogging ventures,
learning so much a bout writing and marketing and working with others. Soon I
hope to take my blogging a step further and combine some of my mutual literary
interests into a brand new blog. Probably my last. That’s my story!
