OH MY MISTBORN!!!! This is one SMASH-BANG trilogy full of AWESOME-SAUCE characters, adventure, danger, villains, romance, action, magic.....EEEP! I have loved following this intense series and must declare it the BEST High-Fantasy I have read since Lord of the Rings! And since LOTR is my FAVORITEST book ever, that is a very high honor. ;)
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. Honest. I don't know where to begin. This book was a roller coaster of epic fun, and emotions for me. The writing was just incredible. I'm so amazed at how well Brandon was able to craft a novel and weave in so many twists in a plot. He is so good and forshadowing and leaving hints that you don't pick up! Things you pass by in the FIRST book now show up again in the third and it's just.. WOW. High-five to Brandon. Yes, I've heard people complain about how long the book is, but it worked for me. It was informative in a way that didn't drown me. It rocked.
The characters as always were incredibly done. We get quite a few points of view and it really adds layers and depth to the story that we couldn't get if it was just one narrator. So I felt it was really well done. Some of the characters had previously undergone their development, and so they were strong and amazing, while a few newer POVS, had not. It was all so great to learn about the cultures, and powers of the whole world from all these characters. I just love the cast that Sanderson has created.
The magic and the plot was superb! It all comes rushing together in a climax I will never forget. Honestly guys, I cried for TEN MINUTES. I'll never forget. I don't want to say to much except that I found myself really sad (and even mad for a few minutes) about a few things that happened, and surprised but okay. It all worked out fine and splendid and....WOW. I'm really gonna miss these characters. I still think about them a lot and wish I could hop into the pages and become one with them.
SO. The Morale is: READ THE MISTBORN TRILOGY. You will never, ever, ever regret it if you do. Actually you know what? Go to Amazon right now and buy the trilogy. Then when it comes in the mail you can hibernate for the next two weeks (these are not light reads) then when you emerge into the blinding sun, we can FANGIRL together! I won't complain if you only buy the first book though. Cuz once you start, you'll get them all anyway.
Content: Mild/Moderate-Clean to me
(Swearing - he**,da**,bloody, swearing on Lord Ruler and Mists. Violence and Fighting. Quite a bit. Somewhat gory details (guy author-go figure). Some kissing.)

ACK ACK ACK! Awesome week this one was. I was SOOO excited for Origin when it came out! But of course I'm not splurging as much as I want to so I just got it uber fast from the library (and found a SUH-WEET Breathless Reads book mark in the copy. Score!) And then...MARK OF ATHENA came out! I HAD to have this book! Eep oh and it came with a Target Exclusive Poster (which for the record you won't see on my walls). Double score! Anyway, bottom line is it was a fab week for me. I hope yours was to!

But court is also full of secrets, lies, and sordid affairs, and as Kitty witnesses Cat's meteoric rise and fall as queen, she must figure out how to keep being a good friend when the price of telling the truth could literally be her head.
Inky's Blurbings:
Okay, it's a legit truth blog-wide known (ish?) that I LOVE Historical Fiction. So much that I borrow random books from my Grandma. And it's not so well-known that I HEART anything Medival/Rennaisance. Or maybe it is. I don't know. Either way, when I heard about the concept of this novel I was thrilled beyond thrilling. Then when I heard that this was a portrayal o the real GRIT, not sparkles of court I went SQUEEE!
Oh yeah. First off I have to give a major high-five to Katherine for her WONDERFUL rendition of the Tudor court. It was really well put together and portrayed to give a pretty real feel for what it was like in the time. From the classes, to the court to, daily deeds. It was easy to slip into the time period and understand what was going on in the years the book covered.
Our main character Kitty Tylney -an actual historical figure- is the best friend of the future Queen Catherine. It was interesting to see two characters trying to fit into the society. All Kitty and Cat want really want is to BE something. And their journey to make it to court so they could be someone was interesting. It felt real and a very realistic character development. Easy to connect to you know? I mean it was a very realistic ambition that is so human and basic that I was snatched right along with Kitty.
So they make it to court. It's glamour and glitter for a bit but then the reality of the situation comes out. It's not all ballgowns and parties. It's betrayal and lies and all manner of intrigue. And it seriously was. Now I have to put in a word that this is NOT a clean intrigue. This is the court of Henry VIII. This is not a chaste society. So if you are a cleanie you have to understand that there are some discourses besides extra content. For me, I'm not a fan of lots of content, but understanding that this was what the society was like then helped to lesson the discomfort/like.
But disregarding that fact I still enjoyed how the dirt and grit was shown. So I really liked the characters and the historical aspect. But what about the romance? Yes, there is a love interest. I rather liked him. Sadly, though, this isn't a happy ending book. Go figure. Oh well. My lips are sealed I enjoyed this book, and would give my good solid recommendation for those of you who like a good accurate historical novel.

(The girls snuck the boys into their dorm at night for parties, and romancing. Sees man taking advantage of a woman. Attempted Rape. Kissing. Innuendo. Some language (Deity, da**, bit**. Court drama/immorality.)

Wow. I have NO idea! Lol. I started this from pure book love and the desire to blurb and share that with others. It's become so more social than I ever could have imagined. :D It's an awesome community. However, now that you bring it up I DO plan on being a NYT bestseller, so I suppose my Blogging Career could help. I didn't really start for the publicity at all, so I don't know where I'm going. Well actually I do, BOOK CRAZY.

Why I'm Waiting:
I'm so excited to be hyperventilating about this book today! From the first time I heard about it, I was so excited! The story sounds simply AMAZING and the fact that it's narrated by a GUY (with a name as awesome as Gray) is a TOTAL WIN.
Okay okay. Peeps, let me direct you to the cover!! It's MAJOR GORGEOUS. I absolutely love the image and how the covers blend and give that beautiful, slightly thrillerish, but awesome look. And the tree.... I love trees. So while this Hyperventilating may be a little more sane than some others....I. CAN. NOT. WAIT. FOR. THIS. BOOK. I need to be Taken right now! MEEP!
