Hey! Welcome to another day of NOVEL THOUGHTS. The fantastic blogger discussion meme on all things bookish hosted by myself, Megan @ The Book Babe & Cheyenne @ This Girl Reads. Today's topic is brought to you by Book Haven Extraordinaire. Yay! We'll be talking about....
Book Peeves
Book Peeves? Oh SHEESH. So many. Some random. Some not. But I'd have to say that I have some that are for sure peeves.
Peeves That Make It Into Reviews:
#1 Insta-Love
I think we can all agree on this one. It's a truth universally acknowledged that there is no such thing as Instant LOVE. It's Insta Lust. Love is when you have a strong emotional connection with some and you truly understand them and feel what they feel. Insta love can be explained like this:

Bestie Look! I see a MEGA hot guy. Oooooh! Look at those ab muscles. I think I'm swooning. AAAH *gasp* I can't breath! His smile is perfect, those teeth seem to sparkle like diamonds. Oh Romeo, I love you and I can't live without you. If you aren't by my side every second I will die.

That just doesn't work for me, I'm sorry.

#2 No Plot till the last page
No, just no. You can have a super-mega-awesome synopsis that leads you to believe the book will be full of fun action and then start it and read romance drama the whole book, leading to the end when the synopsis takes places in the last twenty pages. All the revelations come in the blink of an eye and when you turn the last page you are left to wonder what just happened. That's a PROLOGUE book. If you're setting up for the series, make it a novella. Not a full length novel.

#3 Contradiction Actions
I totally hate when you read in a synopsis that the book is full of kick-butt/ independent characters who take the charge and lead onto glory. Or something like that. But then you read the book and it's WAY too played up and they feel like the complete opposite of what you were told to expect? Just, NO.
Randomly Strange Peeves
#1 Having an amazing opportunity to eat EPIC food and then for some random reason, they all of a sudden lost their appetite.
GAH. This drives me nuts. I mean, it's FOOD. I will totally eat it. Someone needs too! It's heartbreaking to read about food going to waste. And a bit maddening. I always get super hungry.

#2 Not telling the best friend / boyfriend the secret(s) and having it blow up in their face later.
It's cliched and painful for everyone since we all know how things are going to turn out in the end. Including the MC. Generally. The smart ones do anyway.

#3 When they are escaping and there are TREES everywhere but they don't freaking climb them!
What the heck? You say you don't have a single spot to hide but *cough* look above you!
Those Are My Peeves. What're Yours?
I'd love to hear any of your thoughts on this topic! Do you agree with some of mine? Do you have any other new ones? I'd love to hear! SPILL THE BEANS. And don't forget we'd love for you to help us decide what to talk about each month so if you've got a topic you want discussed, fill you the form HERE. Plus you'll get a chance to GUEST POST and we'll promote your blog! Win-Win right?

Welcome to Week Two of the new meme hosted by myself, The Book Babe & This Girl Reads. If you missed the Novel Thoughts from Two Weeks ago, see...HERE! If you want to know how to participate and have SO MUCH FUN with us twice a month then goo.....HERE! But moving on, this week's topic is..................BELOW!

NOVEL THOUGHT TOPIC...
If you could live in the world of any book, which would it be? And which fictional world would scare you the most if you woke up there tomorrow?

Inky's Thoughts:
Wow. This is one epic topic to splurge on. When I first thought of what to say I was like......Huh? How am I supposed to pick? But then the answer slammed me from behind, and it's TOTALLY perfect. And obvious if you have any clue what my FAVORITE book is. Sooo my answer is....

MIDDLE-EARTH
The map itself proves how epic of a landscape it would be. But here are my reasons;

Why I Want To Live There:
I would FREAK OUT, literally FANGIRL to live there. On one condition. It's AFTER the time of Sauron. After the events of Lord of the Rings. Before? No thank you. But seriously. LOOK at the images below. Do you not want to live there now?
I mean just LOOK. Really LOOK. Isn't that GORGEOUS?! I'm in love. Always. I would die to get to live there!!!

WHY I WOULD HATE TO WAKE UP THERE:
I would hate to wake up there if it was during the reign of Sauron and everything looked like this:

That would be ugly, evil and oh-so UNCOOL. Never. I would freak out since I know how things were during that time. Course, I would know how things turn out...but STILL. I could be one of the peeps who DIES. Not for me.

OTHER WORLDS I'D LOVE TO LIVE IN:
BAYERN: I'd love to live here. It's a gorgeous land, generally peaceful and with a wonderful form a magic that it'd be hard NOT to want to live here. Just... EPIC. :D I'm in. All the way. (couldn't find a map sorry!)

BAALBODEN: I would HEART living here. For one thing, the world is epic, even with a big beast called the Cursed One. :D It's not totally messed up, and it's got this cool historical feel too it. Plus...LOGAN LIVES THERE!!!!!!! That's a huge bonus. Like, a SERIOUSLY epic-tastic bonus I could TOTALLY live with. If Rachel were dead.

OTHER WORLDS I'D HATE TO WAKE UP IN:

RAVKA: From the world of Shadow and Bone I'd HATE to wake up here. Just look at the map. It's creepy enough. This place is full for a dark magic and creatures. Eew. Eew. Sure, Male lives there, but honestly, I'd like to crush on the guy in a different part of town.

THE FINAL EMPIRE: Nope. Never. Can't Do That. I will never ever want to live in the lands from Mistborn. Why? You're probably wondering since I MAJORLY HEART THESE BOOKS. Hey, I LOVE Lord of the Rings but I would not want to live there. Same concept applies. I would HATE. And I mean hate, to live in the Mistborn lands while the books go on. It'd be like a living hell. No understatement. I wouldn't want to live there after these books happened either because....BECUASE.....*#$$^@!#$)@%($^ *.....I can't tell you. Unless you've read the books. Oh bummer, guess you're just gonna have too. ;)

SO! Those are my Novel Thoughts on the worlds I would Love/Hate living in! Thanks to Sarah for suggesting this AWESOME topic. Do you want to suggest one? Fill out the form HERE.

HIYA Everybodeeee!!! Welcome to Day 1 of the new bi-weekly meme I'm co-hosting with Megan and Cheyenne! If you missed my announcement yesterday you can find out more HERE! But if not, here's how it's going down. We post a topic, and share our thoughts. Then you chime in and it's a full blown discussion full of Novel Thoughts! Get it? Got it? Good! Let's go think Novelish things!

Today's Novel Thought is..................
What is your Favorite book genre?
What are some of your favorite books in that genre?

Inky's Thoughts.....
Easy Peasy....Young Adult. Okay so maybe not. I love seriously like everything within that classifications except maybe Horror and Erotica. But seriously. I'll read it all. Paranormal Mysteries to chick-flicks. I'll read anything! But for the purposes of this NT I have chosen HISTORICAL FICTION.

What in the world do you see in that genre Inky?
EVERYTHING. I love studying history. I'm partial to English/Medical history, but I love it all! I love reading fantastical stories and adventures, tales of the past. It's fascinating. It's really fun to see how civilizations have evolved from out early ancestors. I love to see how people re-imagine those places

My Favorite Historical Novels...
-in no particular order-

Bewitching Season
WHY: For one thing, this adorable novel is set inVictorian London so you'vegot this classic setting with balls, and debuts, and all the loveliness of the romantic er. But then you've got this new addition with a little fantasy twist, and some magic thrown in there. I love these kinds of books because they give you the era, plus some make-believe which is always cool by me.
The Book Thief
WHY: I absolutely Loved this novel. It had this incredibly harsh setting during WW2, but it was vivid , it was lush and it was heartbreaking.   I love a good historical that can paint such an accurate  story and not leave anything behind. I love a good  hard book like this because it's REAL. It's the bibbidi-bobiddi-boo of the scene with a little Stepmother frowning down. It's  shows real live consequences. That's what this book gave and that's what I loved.

Grave Mercy
WHY: Holy Smokes guys. This is one rocking historical novel. It's quite a tumultuous setting historic wise, and then there's this new supernatural effect. But the thing about this wasn't magic. I don't even know if you could really call it supernatural. More of a new religion I guess? But it was different. She's taken a new twist and fit it right into the goings on. I was wowed. Impressed. In love with this story. Everything was awesome.
The Scarlet Pimpernel
WHY: This book is my historical tribute to the classics. But not even that, this book is Genius! Through and through, it's an adventure that's incredibly funny and engaging without adding any out of the ordinary twists. It's the French Revolt with secret enemies and lots of intrigue! It's an amazing book and one that I loved reading and watch the movie over and over for. Truly legit.
Venom
WHY: My review isn't up yet but This. Book. Is. Amazing. I've always loved Italy and anything historical there, but this book is Pure Epic. It's got a gorgeously told setting with intrigue to creep you out and make you never want to stop reading this book. It's natural intrigue which is really the best kind I think. Not to mention hot Italian guys. If I can get a good historical with hot boys in it, I'm good for life.
Waterfall
WHY: First off, Lisa is amazing. She can take a historical setting and make it real. The way she re-creates 13th cent Italy here is by not-so-kindly shoving 21st century girls into the past. It was a JOY to experience that historical period with them. It's real, it's exciting, it's gripping it's romantic. She's got the hot boy factor as well. She's got the political games going on here, not so much intrigue but the setting is amazing, and I think this is what made me fall in love with Medieval Italy in the first place.

Gilt
WHY: Same thing as Book Thief. TRUE. GRIT. This book gave it all. Holding nothing back, this is the true story. The web of lies and suspicion  the backstabbing people in the courts, the Hungers Games of Power. It's vivid and shocking and just powerfully real. I loved being able to stare reality in the face and not get the glitter and romance for once. It's just incredible.

**************
And now since Chey likes Sci-fi and Megan loves Contemporary, I'm going to spotlight a couple of my favorites from their favorite genres! Wootness!

Top Two Contemp Favorites:
I love these books. They are light and fun. Hilarious with awesome characters, dabbles in romance and life lessons. Totally worth your time to read!

Top Two Sci-Fi Favorites:
I would rave on these books ALL DAY. They are stunning. ATU is one intense mystery with a crazy awesome world-building. Cinder is wonderfull sci-fi fairytale retelling! It's gripping, romantic, and genius. Both books are so worth the read.

In Conclusion....Begin Discussion!
